If you need a genuinely new car, the choice in practice comes down to Canada and the UAE: for buyers from Central Asia, Korea and Georgia are above all used-car markets. Import charges in Kazakhstan do not depend on the country of shipment, so the things worth comparing are different: which cars are actually sold there, what climate they are built for, how transparent their history is and how delivery works. Below is a comparison on those criteria — including where other markets are stronger than Canada.

What is the same for all four countries

Charges

The rate is determined by the car itself, not by the port the container came from. For most new passenger cars with a petrol or diesel engine, that means a 15% duty on the customs value, then 16% VAT (in force since 1 January 2026), a recycling fee based on engine size, and excise for engines over 3,000 cc. How all of this is calculated and why the three-litre threshold is the main budget fork is covered in our article on car customs clearance in Kazakhstan.

The EAEU's trade agreements change almost nothing here. The Eurasian Economic Commission's list of agreements includes neither Canada, nor Korea, nor Georgia. There is an agreement with the UAE, which took effect on 6 October 2026, but as a general rule of such agreements the preference goes to goods made in the partner country, not merely bought there. A Japanese, Korean or American car from a Dubai showroom does not become Emirati; we check how this applies to a specific car on the date of the deal.

Vehicle requirements

Registration in Kazakhstan requires left-hand drive, at least Euro 4 emissions, ABS, a driver's airbag, ISOFIX anchors, daytime running lights and an emergency call system connected to EVAK. A laboratory then issues the SBKTS certificate — see our article on the SOS button and the SBKTS. An individual can obtain one such certificate per year, and since 1 September 2026 customs has been separating personal imports from commercial ones more strictly — see our breakdown of the import rules after 1 September. All of this is the same for a car from any country.

Warranty

The factory warranty is tied to the market of sale. According to newtimes.kz, when a car is imported outside the official distributor, Kazakh dealers may refuse warranty repairs — whether the car came from Canada, Korea or the UAE. Details, with the manufacturers' terms, are in our article on warranty and service.

Which cars are actually available

Canada. A market of official dealers for every major brand: a new car is bought from a dealer with factory documents. That is exactly how we work — only through official Canadian dealers, used cars only on request and only clean ones. The limitation is real too: the line-up is North American, and some versions and engines from other markets are not sold in Canada.

The UAE. A strong new-car market and, as we wrote in our piece on Dubai, a re-export hub from which cars go on to the CIS, Africa and Asia. The advantages are a wide choice of brands and the option to fly in and pick a car in person. New cars there are sold in the Gulf (GCC) specification.

Korea. Above all a used-car market. According to Yonhap, citing Korea's trade ministry, used-car exports for January–November 2025 rose to $8.4 billion from $4.6 billion a year earlier. The largest buyer in January–October was Kyrgyzstan ($2.62 billion); Kazakhstan bought $664 million worth of Korean used cars. Finratings.kz, citing Korean statistics, reported that in September 2025 Kyrgyzstan ranked third in the world for purchases of Korean passenger cars. Korea's strength is a large choice of used Korean brands. If you need a new Korean car, compare with what official dealers in Kazakhstan offer: Hyundai, for example, is officially represented here by Astana Motors, and such a car comes with a local warranty.

Georgia. A market of ready-to-buy used cars. According to a Tengrinews report from the Rustavi car market (February 2023), the main flow there is cars from American auctions; many arrive damaged, including flood and fire victims; cars also come from Japan, Europe and the UAE. Kazakh buyers, by the estimate of the outlet's source, made up 40–50% of market participants. Georgia's advantage is that you can see and inspect the car in person before buying.

Specification: what climate the car is built for

GCC (UAE). As dubizzle describes them, Gulf-spec cars are designed for heat, humidity and dust: enhanced filtration and a protective anti-corrosion coating. That description says nothing about winter equipment, so for a winter in Astana or Kostanay, seat heating and heated glass and mirrors on a car from the Emirates need to be checked for the specific trim.

Canada. A market with a real winter. Canada was the first country in the world to make daytime running lights mandatory, and Kazakhstan requires them too. Heating, winter packages and other options depend on the trim, so we check them against the specification of the specific unit rather than promising them "by default".

Korea and Georgia. Korea has its own domestic specification; cars from American auctions that reach Georgia have the US one, with an odometer in miles. In Georgia it is worth checking the steering wheel separately: cars arrive there from Japan, while Kazakhstan does not register right-hand-drive cars, and a ban on SBKTS for cars with a converted steering position is under discussion.

History and risks

A new car from an official dealer — in Canada or the UAE — has no history, and that is the main advantage of both markets. A used car from any country needs checking: mileage, accidents, liens. For used cars from the Canadian market we pull Carfax Canada and check for liens. The highest risk is with cars from American auctions, where an insurance write-off, flood or fire damage can be hidden by repairs. Why we do not work with such cars is explained in "Powersports from Canada or the USA".

Logistics and timing

From Canada a car travels by sea and then overland; timing depends on the line and route and is confirmed at booking rather than promised in advance. The route from the UAE is shorter in distance, but in 2026 sea logistics through the Middle East are unstable: Yonhap cites shipping restrictions caused by the conflict in the region among the reasons for the fall in Korean car exports in the third quarter. The Korean and Georgian markets are geared to a flow of ready cars, so buying and shipping there can be faster — if a used car suits you.

Bottom line

If you need a new car with transparent documents and a winter specification, it makes sense to compare Canada and the UAE — and in some cases an official dealer in Kazakhstan, which will give you a local warranty. Korea wins on the choice of used Korean cars, Georgia on the chance to see the car with your own eyes, but in both cases checking the history is up to you.

Full transparency. Throughout the whole journey you receive every document related to your order. For a new vehicle, that starts with the official dealer's bill of sale; for a used one, we help you run its VIN history; after that, documents at every stage of shipping.

We ship new cars from official Canadian dealers — see the cars in our catalogue and how we work on the "Cars from Canada to Kazakhstan" page. We do not publish prices: name the model and we will calculate customs and delivery for the specific unit before purchase. You can leave a request on the order page.
