The short answer: the factory warranty on a vehicle bought from a Canadian dealer generally does not apply in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan or Uzbekistan. BRP and Toyota Canada say so explicitly. Harley-Davidson offers warranty service while travelling, but not for permanent use in another country, and for Lexus and BMW we found no public terms covering this case. Below is what the manufacturers' documents actually say, where official service exists in the region, and how to look after your vehicle calmly without a warranty.
Why the question comes up at all
A warranty is given by the manufacturer, not the seller — and it runs through the manufacturer's network in a specific country. Newtimes.kz describes the chain as factory, official distributor in Kazakhstan, authorised dealer, buyer. A car imported outside that chain is not in the distributor's database, and the dealer may refuse warranty repairs. Among the reasons for refusal the outlet also lists software that does not match the firmware used in Kazakhstan. This applies to any vehicle imported outside the official distributor — from Canada, the USA, Korea or the UAE.
What the manufacturers say
BRP: Ski-Doo, Can-Am, Sea-Doo
We read BRP's 2027 model-year warranty booklets for Ski-Doo, Sea-Doo, Can-Am side-by-sides and Can-Am Spyder. The North American warranty covers units sold by authorised dealers in the USA and Canada, and one of its mandatory conditions is that the product must be purchased in the country where the buyer resides. If that condition is not met, BRP will not honour the warranty. BRP's international warranty repeats the same requirement.
On its Ski-Doo FAQ page BRP adds that it does not handle imports or exports, that the warranty is valid only in the country of purchase, and that you should buy where you intend to ride. For a buyer from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan or Uzbekistan this means a Ski-Doo, Can-Am or Sea-Doo bought from a Canadian dealer is not covered by BRP's factory warranty at home. If a warranty matters to you, the honest option is to buy from BRP's official representative in your own country.
Harley-Davidson
Harley-Davidson's warranty on 2026 model-year motorcycles runs 24 months with unlimited mileage from the date of the first retail sale by an authorised dealer. It includes a "worldwide tourist warranty": an owner who maintains the bike as the manual specifies can get warranty service while travelling. However, the exclusions specifically list motorcycles not manufactured to comply with the laws of the market where they are registered. So for a Canadian-spec motorcycle registered in Kazakhstan, warranty service is not guaranteed — we confirm the terms for each specific unit.
A practical point: as of 5 November 2026, Harley-Davidson's official dealer locator shows no dealer near Almaty, Astana, Bishkek or Tashkent.
Toyota
Toyota Canada's warranty booklet for 2026 models is clear: the warranty covers vehicles originally sold by an authorised dealer in Canada and normally operated or touring in Canada, the United States or U.S. territories. Vehicles registered and normally operated outside those countries are listed among the exclusions. For owners who relocate, Toyota Canada warns separately that a local dealer may decline warranty service, because the local distributor may have no obligation to provide it and the car may not meet local requirements.
In Kazakhstan Toyota runs the Toyota Relax programme — a free one-year warranty after each service at an official dealer. But according to the terms on Toyota Kazakhstan's website, it covers cars sold through the official network in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan and cars originally sold through Toyota Motor Europe's network. A car from the Canadian market does not qualify.
Lexus
Lexus Canada gives new cars a 48-month or 80,000 km warranty and states that warranty service is available at any Lexus dealership in North America. The full terms are in the warranty booklet, and we could not find a public 2026 version. So for use outside North America we confirm the terms for each specific unit.
BMW
We were unable to open BMW Canada's official warranty text with its rules for vehicles taken out of the country, so we confirm the terms for each specific unit and tell you before purchase. In Kazakhstan BMW's official distributor is Astana Motors (according to the Forbes Kazakhstan ranking, December 2025). How it treats cars imported outside its network is best asked directly.
Where official service exists in the region
- Toyota: Toyota Kazakhstan's official list includes three centres each in Almaty and Astana, plus Toyota Center Bishkek. In Tashkent, Toyota's official distributor opened a showroom with a service centre back in 2019.
- Lexus: official centres in Almaty, Astana and Bishkek, according to Lexus Kazakhstan's website.
- BRP: BRP's official dealer locator for Kazakhstan shows BRP Center Almaty and BRP Center Astana. For Uzbekistan BRP has a separate regional website with a dealer locator.
- Harley-Davidson: the official locator finds no dealers near any of these four cities.
- BMW: Astana Motors operates as the official distributor in Kazakhstan.
Whether an official centre will take a grey-import car for paid servicing depends on the specific dealer's policy; we found no public rules on this. Newtimes.kz notes that such cars are serviced by independent workshops. So before you buy, it is worth calling the nearest centre and asking whether they will accept the vehicle for paid maintenance by VIN.
How to live without a factory warranty
Maintenance strictly on schedule
The service schedule is in the owner's manual, and it is worth following even without a warranty. Keep work orders and receipts: for BRP, timely maintenance is one of the warranty conditions, and Harley-Davidson explicitly asks owners to keep service records. Without a warranty, this paperwork works for you when you sell.
Spare parts
In its warranty booklet BRP states that after the warranty ends, parts remain available for purchase at retail price from dealers and on BRP's website for a reasonable period after the model year. It makes sense to buy consumables for the first services — filters, spark plugs, belts — in advance. Choose parts by VIN rather than by model name: trims differ between markets.
Recall campaigns
A safety recall is a separate matter from the warranty. Transport Canada maintains a database of recalls issued in Canada since 1970 and advises checking a specific vehicle by VIN on the manufacturer's website, where you can also sign up for notifications. Check the VIN before purchase and then at least every six months. If there is a recall, contact the official dealer in your country: whether it will carry out the work on a Canadian-market vehicle is up to the local distributor.
Firmware, menu language, navigation
Since mismatched software is one of the reasons dealers refuse service, check the menu language, navigation maps and connected services for the specific trim before buying: some features are designed for North America. The emergency call system required for registration in Kazakhstan is installed separately — see our article on the SOS button and the SBKTS certificate.
What we guarantee — and what we don't
We do not give or promise a factory warranty: only the manufacturer gives one, and only on its own terms. Our responsibility is the transaction. We buy only from official Canadian dealers, show you the documents for the specific unit after the deposit, and film photos and video for you when we collect it from the dealer. What exactly we check and record is described on our transaction guarantees page. Why we do not take vehicles from US auctions is explained in "Powersports from Canada or the USA".
Full transparency. Throughout the whole journey you receive every document related to your order. For a new vehicle, that starts with the official dealer's bill of sale; for a used one, we help you run its VIN history; after that, documents at every stage of shipping.
If you are choosing between a Canadian vehicle and buying from an official dealer at home, we will tell you honestly where the wider choice of trims in Canada is worth giving up the warranty and where it is not. Name the model — we will check recalls by VIN, tell you whether there is official service in your city, and calculate delivery for the specific unit. You can leave a request on our contacts page.
