Logistics: how the bike travels from Canada to Ukraine
The motorcycle is prepared for transit: excess fuel drained, crated or strapped to the container floor. The main route is a sea container to a European port (for example Gdansk or Klaipeda), then by road to Ukraine across the land border. Consolidating several units into one container lowers the per-bike cost. Transit time depends on the port and line load, so we quote it for each specific shipment. Customs clearance in Ukraine
When an individual imports a bike into Ukraine, import duty, excise and VAT are charged. Motorcycle excise is a flat rate per cubic centimetre and, unlike for cars, does not depend on age: €0.062 per cc up to 500 cc, €0.443 from 500 to 800 cc and €0.447 above 800 cc. That is why a Harley with a large V-Twin costs more in excise than a small-displacement machine: for a Sportster S with a 1,252 cc engine it is €559.64, for a Nightster with 975 cc it is €435.83, and the figure is the same for a new bike and a ten-year-old one. The total should be calculated in advance. Import duty on motorcycles (heading 8711; above 800 cc — 8711 50) is 10%. The Canada–Ukraine Free Trade Agreement (CUFTA) gives 0% only to goods of Canadian origin, while Harley-Davidson, according to the company's annual report, builds its motorcycles in the USA (assembly in York, Pennsylvania; powertrains in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin) and, for selected markets and models, in Rayong, Thailand. Buying from a Canadian dealer does not change origin, so the CUFTA preference does not apply to Harley. Documents and registration
The set includes the sales invoice, the Canadian title, the export declaration and bill of lading, plus the customs declaration after import. Based on these the bike is registered at an MVS service centre and issued a registration certificate and Ukrainian plates. We verify VIN, year and data in advance so no discrepancies arise at registration.
