Buying an ATV in Ukraine at a fair price and in the right trim can be hard: the market is limited and popular models sell fast. Canada solves this — a wide choice of Can-Am Outlander, Renegade and Polaris with clean history and reasonable prices. Importing an ATV from Canada to Ukraine is realistic and predictable: we run our own warehouses in Toronto and Montreal with turnkey customs. Below is the full route from choice to handover.
Why importing an ATV from Canada pays off
Can-Am is a Canadian brand, so Canada has the widest choice of models and trims. But brand is not country of assembly: Can-Am ATVs are built at BRP's plant in Juárez, Mexico, so the zero duty under the CUFTA agreement, which applies only to goods of Canadian origin, does not extend to them. For Polaris we check the country of assembly against the manufacturer's documents before calculating. Machines were dealer-serviced, often with winch, protection and extra equipment, and used prices sit below European levels. For a Ukrainian buyer, it is a chance to get exactly the version needed for hunting, farm work or leisure, rather than settling for what is locally in stock.
Shipping from Canada to Ukraine
We receive the ATV at our Toronto or Montreal warehouse, inspect it, photograph it and prepare it for shipment. The machine then sails in a container to a European port and continues by road to Ukraine. Consolidating several units lowers the per-unit transport cost. The duration of the sea and overland legs depends on the line, the port and consolidation, so we quote it for each specific shipment and tailor the route to the current logistics situation and your region — more in the shipping section.
Turnkey ATV customs clearance
ATV customs in Ukraine includes import duty, excise and VAT. We handle it turnkey: calculating payments, preparing the declaration and escorting to release. Correct calculation of displacement and value is critical — it drives the total. We do it accurately and transparently, with no hidden add-ons.
An ATV is normally declared under heading 8703 (for engines up to 1,000 cc — 8703 21); the code for the specific model is confirmed at clearance. Duty is 10%. Excise depends not only on displacement but also on the machine's age: €50 × (displacement in cc / 1,000) × age coefficient. The age coefficient is the number of full calendar years from the year after manufacture to the year of clearance; for a new ATV it is 1, with a maximum of 15. Documents and registration
The ATV gets a full set: invoice and contract, Canadian export documents, bill of lading and CMR, customs declaration and proof of payment. For registration we prepare the required basis. Which authority registers ATVs is not clearly settled in the regulations: MVS service centres register cars, motorcycles and vehicles "equated to them" (CMU Resolution No. 1388), while the State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection registers tractors, self-propelled machines and "other mechanisms" (Resolution No. 694, with an application due within 10 days of purchase or clearance). Mind the licence category too: B1 covers quadricycles and tricycles with a permitted maximum mass of no more than 400 kg, from age 18. We confirm current requirements for the specific machine in advance so registration goes without delays.
Timing and cost
The length of the full turnkey cycle depends on the route and consolidation — we quote it for each specific shipment. Cost depends on the ATV price, engine displacement (for excise), route, consolidation and insurance. We do not quote at random: an Outlander DPS 1000R (999 cc) and a Renegade 650 (649 cc) clear differently — excise on new units comes to €49.95 and €32.45 respectively — and delivery to Kyiv, Lviv or Odesa varies. Every quote is individual.
